Barcelona’s rebuild has been a work in progress since the departure of their mercurial talisman Lionel Messi to PSG a couple of seasons ago. As expected, they had a terrible start to the season but the appointment of Xavi as new coach seems to be the spark they needed as they finished the season strong to take up 2nd place behind their bitter rivals Real Madrid. They faced off with them at the weekend in an early El Classico preview and they did not shy away as they walked off with a 1-0 win in a tense and action-packed encounter at the Allegiant Stadium (Paradise) in the state of Nevada, US.

Juventus are similarly trying to rebuild themselves but they seem to be far off from a finished product. They finished a distant 4th in Serie A last season but given their illustrious history, their expectant supporters will be demanding for more this season. They are still trying to get the pieces they need to compete in this transfer window with the likes of striker Federico Chiesa, Di Maria and Pogba from Manchester United some of their notable additions.
