A disastrous 4th quarter performance saw the Warriors drop the opening game of the NBA finals at home for what became their first home loss in this entire post-season. They looked to be in complete control after their famous third-quarter displays that they deployed in this game to win it 38-24 and take a commanding 12-point cushion to the 4th. That was not to be however as they got outscored by the 24 points in the 4th, the biggest loss margin in any quarter in the finals since 1960. They need to regroup quickly to get back in the series
The Celtics stayed true to themselves and showed tremendous character despite the early assault from Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry who scored 21 points in the first quarter on 6/7 shooting from three. They made adjustments in their coverage and only limited him to 13 points the rest of the way. Trailing by 12 going into the 4th, the Celtics went on a quick 7-0 start in the 4th and maintained the momentum throughout to win that 4th quarter comprehensively and take early control of the series. Caoch Ime Udoka will be looking for more of the same here.
As is true of just about any series, we expect adjustments to be made on both sides. The Warriors cannot afford to go 0-2 down and we expect them to throw everything including the kitchen sink at Boston here as they look to level the series before it moves to the East Coast. They have the experience and wherewithal to get it done and we are backing them to win by at least 5 points
