Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics 14.06.2022
An NBA Finals all-time performance from Warriors superstar Steph Curry earned them a crucial game 4 win as they avoided falling into a 3-1 abyss that only one team in NBA finals history has ever come back from. Steph torched the vaunted Celtics defence all night, finishing with 43 points and 10 rebounds, in what is arguably his biggest performance in the 6 trips they have been to the finals. With the series tied at 2-2 the Warriors will look to take control by protecting homecourt here in game 5
Boston simply had no answers for the Curry flurry. Ime Udoka has mostly stuck with single coverage for Steph in this series hoping to let him do his thing while shutting everyone else and he has duly paid them in kind, leading all scorers in all 4 games thus far. It will be interesting to see whether he will stick to this or opt for blitzes and doubles to get the rock out of his hand. Either way, the Celtics were right in it but just couldn’t execute in the final 5 minutes which the Warriors took advantage of and stole the game
Boston are shooting over 40% from 3 so far in this series. They have been making incredibly tough shots, some at the end of the shot clock. This is insane shot-making but it’s also well above what they have been shooting through the playoffs. We expect them to regress to the mean at some point. The Warriors missed some wide-open ones in game 4 in Boston. Given the magnitude of this game, we expect them to knock them down here if afforded the same looks. We are therefore backing the Warriors to win the 3-point shootout in this game 5
