In what is clearly the most intriguing matchup of the 2nd round in the West, Memphis dropped the opening game of the series in a nail-biting encounter. Warriors’ composure and experience saw them silence the hosts thanks to a Klay Thompson three-pointer in with less than a minute on the clock and a key defensive stop on Ja Morant to win 117-116,
The Warriors seemed to be in trouble at halftime after Draymond Green was ejected from the game for what was assessed to be a flagrant-2 foul. They however dug deep into their reservoir and had their breakout star Jordan Poole doing all the good things on the court as he continued his terrific playoff debut with a splendid 31-8-9 statline.
Key to this win was their effort on the glass with Wiggins and Klay contributing to 8 rebounds apiece, with some of these being key offensive rebounds that granted them additional bites at the cherry. Draymond is expected to be back in the lineup and they will certainly need another masterclass defensive performance if they are to end this series early.
