Chelsea vs Liverpool 18.09.2022
NOTE: Due to security arrangements in the city of London as a result of the activities surrounding the death of Her Majesty the Queen of England, this match has been postponed. A new date will be communicated
With the festivities occasioned by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen of England effectively done and dusted, old foes Chelsea and Liverpool will headline the return of the Premier League this weekend when they face off for a potentially explosive clash at Stamford Bridge this Sunday evening.
The Blues have had a mixed start to the season with 3 wins and 2 losses and a draw that has them in 6th on the table. Whilst this may be seen as a fairly decent return for most clubs, Chelsea had much higher expectations and when they lost to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, that was the final straw that broke the camel’s back as the management promptly fired German tactician Thomas Tuchel.
Liverpool have also blown hot and cold to start the season. They are one place behind the hosts after winning just 2 of their 6 league matches. Their last league match was the Merseyside derby away at Goodison Park which ended in a goalless stalemate. They followed this up with a horror show in the Champions League at Napoli where their defence was torn apart in the first half, conceding four goals before eventually losing 4-1
Both teams are under pressure to respond to their recent woes here. This is going to be a tough game especially to start the match. We expect a closely fought opening half with few clear-cut scoring opportunities and we are therefore backing the opening half to have not more than a goal scored
