LA Lakers vs Denver Nuggets prediction
The Lakers were left licking their wounds after they let a chance to steal game 2 in Denver, throwing away a massive 20-point 2nd half advantage and losing to a game-winning buzzer-beater from Denver superstar guard Jamal Murray. After dropping game one in an almost similar fashion, LA were determined to get the job done in game 2. They started well and led 60-57 at the break and then built this lead to 20 points midway through the third quarter. However, they ran out of gas and the champions once again overpowered them, making 8 of their final 9 shots to seal their fate.
Defending champions Denver’s quest for a repeat hasn’t quite gone as smoothly as planned. Jamal Murray has shot poorly in the opening two games and they have let both AD and Lebron get comfortable with their shots through these opening two games. Despite playing below their standards, they have made the right plays at the right times and have built a commanding 2-0 lead to start this series, thanks mostly to MVP Nikola Jokic’s composure and Jamal Murray’s clutch shooting as well as their solid defence to close these games. They will look to put the series away in this critical game three at Crypto Arena.
All the pressure is on the Lakers now. They have lost the last 10 straight games to Denver including the 4-0 sweep in the Western Conference finals last year. They had a lot of success starting game 2 with Anthony Davis post ups and we expect them to try and replicate that here. We are therefore backing AD to have another strong start to the game with Lakers trying to get back in the series.
Tip: Davis 1st Quarter Over 7.5 Points
