The UEFA Nations League

The UEFA Nations League is an international men’s competition for National teams in Europe. It started in 2018 after the Russia 2018 World Cup.

All 55 UEFA member countries are divided into four divisions otherwise known as categories or Leagues. 16 teams are in League A, another 16 in League B, 16 teams in League C and finally, 7 teams in League D. There are four groups within each League and these groups could either consist of three or four teams and they play against each other both home and away.

The top teams in League go on to play the Nations League finals. Two semi-final games, a loser’s final and final. Teams also get relegated and promoted to a higher or lower league.

Portugal won the first-ever Nations League trophy after beating the Netherlands 1-0 in the 2018/19 season.
